Activity Line 4: Supporting activities

The last Activity Line is formed by the horizontal activities necessary to integrate effectively the three areas of research in order to make possible the achievement of the project objectives. These cross-project activities are the following:

  • Project management, risk management and quality assurance. Must ensure the properly management of the project and the high quality of the results produced and will be based on best practices. The quality will be the result of continuously monitoring work packages and deliverables. To achieve this goal at the beginning of the project we will produce a quality plan a designate a quality manager. This activity will take care of gender issues in the project including the pilots. Also risk management tasks are carried out in this project.
  • Group of External Experts and Users (GE2U). The GE2U will address the interactions of PERSONA with users, experts and stakeholders in two main streams: involvement of users and stakeholders in the project research and collaboration with experts in the aging problematic. This group will allow a stronger and wider collaboration with more individuals coming from different sources and organizations and better representing the problematic of the whole collective and the European dimension that wants to be covered by PERSONA.
  • Ethical and Legal issues. In various parts of the research activities we should consider the legal and ethical issues in the activities done with the elderly. For this reason, the consortium will build an Ethical and Legal Advisory Group. Each time an activity is organized with end users the Ethical Advisory Group will produce a report with some recommendations regarding ethical issues. This group will support the research, dissemination, training and demonstration work.
  • Training. Ambient Intelligent environments are characterized by the easiness to access the different services offered to the users in a transparent mode independent of the technology complexity. It is expected that users do not face many difficulties when utilizing this type of systems that have been conceived to be easy to use by definition. However, a training activity on the particular features offered is always needed and recommended. Our approach will be based on the utilization of a "wizard/avatar" tool that will guide the user in the utilization of the system
  • Dissemination. The dissemination of PERSONA beyond the project's framework, creating awareness in the society, from the local point of view until a more international perspective, of the work carried out in the framework of the PERSONA Project. The approach will be linked to the diffusion of the research to broad and massive forums that will be selected following the evolution of the project.
  • Demonstration. Each pilot will organize a round of showrooms to demonstrate to potential stakeholders and groups of very specific users the concepts of the implemented PERSONA services. Using the infrastructure of the pilots, the validation team will have another tool to demonstration and assessment of the commercial viability of the products.
