Activity Line 3: Technology Development
The technological objective of the project is to develop a scalable open standard Ambient Assisted Technological Platform which enables the development and time to market deployment of AAL Services such as the ones developed in Action Line 2. This platform will be based on the specifications of a reference architecture model for ambient intelligence systems.
An important challenge of the project will be integration of existing mature technologies (like 3G communication, WiFi, Bluetooth), with emerging technologies (like smart textile sensors, NFC, Body Area Network communication protocols like ZigBee, wireless sensor networks protocols and user interface devices) and with the new technologies and solutions fully developed in the project (like intelligent middleware and intelligent algorithms, low cost embedded sensors and actuators in home textiles and goods, new user interfaces modes embedded in diverse objects, very low power – small size – low cost motes, adaptive user interfaces in terms of task, location and context, and no less important, new ways of providing privacy, security and trust in the AAL environment).
